Hyperdriven Pictures Presents....

Take a look at some other Hyperdriven Short Films...

We're gradually adding our library of short films to Revver.com and Vimeo.com.

All films written and directed by Ian Nicholson of Hyperdriven.

HEADSPACE (2009) from Ian Nicholson on Vimeo.

It is a beautiful spring day, and despite his wife's suggestion to go outside for some fresh air, he's content to just to sit indoors, build his model home and help his son with his homework.
Until the doorbell rings...

The Curse of the Seven Bananas from Ian Nicholson on Vimeo.

Jones, your everyday sex maniac, is transferred to an oil drilling site in deepest, darkest Africa. What does he do about the lack of women? Ask McTavish!

Hairy Bald Tattooed Men from Ian Nicholson on Vimeo.

A man goes for a shave...
Made as a challenge for Kino Sydney. I had to make a film including the words 'Hairy', 'Bald' and 'Tattoo'.

Check out our Vimeo page for more films as they're uploaded!

Great Acting Talent

There are an awful lot of actors out there that are unemployed, and there are a lot of awful actors out there that are unemployable.

The ONLY way you can become an employable actor in this industry is to hone your craft. Do you think that any A-list actor just walked into their part? No. They studied and they practiced and when they weren't working they continued practicing.

I meet a lot of people who claim to be movie buffs and think that gives them what they need to know to be a good actor.

Wrong.

It takes practice. Practice! Practice! Practice!

Five years ago, I joined the Screen Actors Workshop based in Brookvale. Alan Nurthen, who runs the group, provides short scenes which are first practiced with and to the group, and then performed in front of a camera. Daunting at first, but addictive by the end of your first term. A LOT of the students from there have gone on to roles in TV and Film. Me? I discovered I preferred to be behind the camera. I still take acting classes because I believe that will make me a better director. This year I shot 'Between the Flags' which won 'Best Comedy' and 'Best Male Actor' at Tropfest 2007.

For that reason, I continue to go to the Screen Actors Workshop.

Cheap as chips, and without doubt the best way for anyone to hone their craft.

So, the next time someone tells you they're an actor, ask them where they practice.

If they can't answer you, they're a waiter.
