Snapshot EFB - The World's Most Innovative Data Backup Solution
|
Snapshot Enterprise File Backup backs up to hard disks instead of tape, making it many times faster and more reliable than any tape-based solution.
With the ever-decreasing cost of modern hard drives, Snapshot EFB makes disk-based backup a cost-effective reality. Snapshot EFB is configured with fixed and exchangeable disks, providing instant availability along with off-site security and redundancy.
Snapshot EFB is totally OS agnostic - you can backup files from all your machines no matter what they are or what OS they use. That includes any version of :-
- Windows 98/ME/NT/XP/2000/2003
- Linux
- Unix (including Solaris, AIX, HP-UX etc)
- Novell
- Apple Macintosh OS/X
- AS/400
- VMware
Snapshot EFB is the world's only backup solution to have Intelligent Data Flow Optimisation (IDFO). During the backup process, Snapshot's IDFO automatically detects duplicate files, so each file only ever gets backed up once. Each file is compressed before sending to the backup server reducing the amount of network traffic, and the time it takes to backup.
Through the use of this Progressive Backup technique, IDFO means that businesses can enjoy the security of a full backup, in less time than it takes to make an incremental backup.
Since Snapshot EFB is web-based, remote users can gain secure access to their files at anytime from anywhere. Such availability brings about an instant reduction in administration costs, since tapes never need to be found, recalled, loaded or searched to recover a file. Data is available and instantly accessible by the user
Your data is protected by a securely-designed architecture of fixed and exchangeable IDE disk drives, which can be configured in a RAID or NAS-type configuration (currently up to 3 Terabytes), and uses System 5's SnapMedia with QuadRedundant technology to provide safe, multiple backup copies for off-site storage. All media for off-site storage is fully shielded within a military-specification SnapSafe water, shock and dust-resistant custom casing that comes with an unconditional lifetime guarantee.
Getting Your Data Back - Intact.
Tape is notorious for failing just when you need it most - during a restore. Snapshot EFB backs up and restores from reliable IDE disk drives. After all, when was the last time you had trouble reading from a disk?
Snapshot EFB's Bare Metal with All There! total restore capability brings back failed hardware in minutes. For example, a basic Windows NT installation can be fully restored in under 30 seconds.
Snapshot EFB goes beyond the traditional data restore paradigm with several unique features:-
- Using PXE Boot technology, Snapshot EFB can boot a dead PC via its network adapter, and restore everything back onto it automatically.
- A PC may be booted using a special Snapshot EFB floppy or CD. Then the PC can connect to your Snapshot EFB server across your network and restore.
- A set of restore CDs or DVDs can created by the Snapshot EFB server, and used to boot and restore everything back onto the computer.
Data Migration and Standard Operating Environments
In a world first, Snapshot EFB can even restore to different hardware. Data can be fully restored to a machine even if it is a different manufacturer or configuration than the originally backed-up hardware.
This unique feature provides several benefits:-
- Data from a lost or stolen laptop can be replaced - even if the replacement laptop is of a different brand.
- Migrating to a new hardware platform? Let Snapshot EFB deal with the process - automatically.
- Has a new employee joined the company? Snapshot EFB can have your business's Standard Operating Environment installed on their new PC in minutes.

Capacity Without The Cost
Snapshot EFB is available in a number of configurations from 120/250GB all the way up to 1.5/3TB. Whatever configuration you require, it comes complete with three sets of exchangeable media for off-site secure storage (in addition to the fixed media inside the Snapshot EFB server).
Besides the enormous capacities, high speed and low maintenance, Snapshot EFB is actually more economical in the long run. There are no tapes to buy, and therefore none to replace when they become unusable.

Don't Have a Spare PC?
No problem - download a FREE 30-day trial license of VMware. It allows you to create as many virtual computers to run any operating system you like on your computer. It's an amazing product and can actually save you thousands on underutilized hardware.
We demonstrate Snapshot EFB on a Windows XP computer running VMware Workstation. Within VMware, we have a Snapshot EFB server, a Windows NT server and a Windows 98 PC all backed up and restored during the demo (all on the same laptop!).
Try VMware, and if you like it, then quote discount code "VMRC-IANNIC469" when purchasing your copy from their website to get 5% off! |
